Surf City Comic Con Set to Make a Splash in Capitola

Capitola is gearing up to host its very own pop culture extravaganza with the upcoming Surf City Comic Con on April 20. The event, which will take place at the former Sears location in the Capitola Mall, promises to be a haven for fans of all things nerdy.

With a 38,000-square-foot space dedicated to all things pop culture, attendees can expect a wide range of activities and attractions. From cosplay to collectibles for sale, video game and card tournaments, and even local artist showcases, Surf City Comic Con aims to bring together enthusiasts of comic books, video games, anime, and science fiction under one roof.

The event is a collaborative effort among three of the mall’s tenants: Hadbro Toys and Collectibles, The Game Vault, and Sword and Board Games. George Tegenkamp, owner of Hadbro, expressed his excitement for the event, highlighting the opportunity to showcase local talent and provide a platform for collectors and fans to come together.

In addition to the various vendors and exhibitors, Surf City Comic Con will also feature special activities from each of the presenting sponsors. The Game Vault will be hosting a “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” tournament, while Sword and Board Games will provide a space for card game enthusiasts to compete in tournaments.

With a focus on fostering a sense of community and celebrating all things nerdy, Surf City Comic Con aims to bring the excitement of larger conventions like Comic-Con to the local Santa Cruz area. Tickets for the event are available for purchase online, with options for general admission and early bird specials.

Don’t miss out on the chance to immerse yourself in a day of pop culture fun at Surf City Comic Con in Capitola. Dressing up is highly encouraged, so come prepared to show off your favorite cosplay creations and join in the celebration of all things nerdy.
