At just 14 years old, Paul Bristow was already making waves in the comedy circuit, captivating audiences with his teenage tales. But as he grew older, Paul decided to shift gears and delve into publishing and community work in Inverclyde.

His passion for storytelling led him to create Magic Torch, a heritage project aimed at bringing local stories and memories to life. This eventually evolved into his dream job as a graphic book writer, where he uses comic books to entertain, educate, and make a difference.

Now 49, Paul has an impressive portfolio of graphic novels that tackle various issues, all created in collaboration with artists and local children and youths. His work has not gone unnoticed, with one of his notable successes being the comic book “Achi Baba Gallipoli 1915,” which won an award for its depiction of the First World War campaign.

Despite his success, Paul remains grounded in his roots, drawing inspiration from his upbringing in Greenock and his family. He now resides in Port Glasgow with his wife and children, continuing to inspire the next generation of creatives through his workshops in libraries and schools.
