Wollongong’s beloved Comic Gong festival is making a triumphant return on Saturday, May 11, promising a day filled with all things comics, cosplay, gaming, and pop culture. The event, known for bringing together people of all ages and interests, is a highlight on the city’s calendar.
In anticipation of the big day, Wollongong City Libraries is hosting a series of free activities and events for the community to enjoy. From themed family trivia nights to Marvel Escape Room adventures to Cosplay catchups, there’s something for everyone to partake in as they gear up for Comic Gong.
Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM expressed his excitement for the upcoming festival, urging everyone to mark their calendars for May 11. He emphasized the inclusive and celebratory nature of Comic Gong, highlighting it as a fantastic family day out.
For those eager to get a head start on the festivities, there are early events planned. The Wollongong Youth Centre will host a Cosplay Catchup on May 3, inviting attendees to dress up, compete in a cosplay competition, enjoy live music, play games, and socialize with friends. Additionally, on May 4, the Wollongong Library will host a “May the 4th Be With You” Star Wars Trivia night for adults aged 18 and above.
