Erie County Comics marks third year with release of three new comic books

Local Comic Book Publisher Erie County Comics to Debut Three New Issues at Queen City Bookstore for Free Comic Book Day

Local comic book publisher Erie County Comics is gearing up for Free Comic Book Day at Queen City Bookstore with the release of three new issues. Tivo Rodriguez, the mastermind behind the company, will be debuting “RUSTBELT #3,” “Roller Queen #1,” and “Erie County Comics Presents #1” on May 4th. Fans can meet Rodriguez and get their comics signed at the store on May 4th and 5th.

“RUSTBELT” has been a hit since its debut two years ago, with the protagonist Amalio Ayala drawing inspiration from Rodriguez’s own grandfather. The series is set in 1983 and follows the hero as he teams up with Kensington Bailey, an occult DJ with mysterious powers. Rodriguez has also introduced new characters in “Erie County Comics Presents #1,” including Bubble-Man, Bed Head, Screaming Jean, and the Woman in White.

In addition to the new releases, Free Comic Book Day festivities will be taking place at various comic book stores in the area, including Empire Comics, Gutter Pop Comics, Halley’s Comics and Games, Kingpin Comics & Gaming, and Queen City Bookstore. Attendees can pick up free comics and meet local comic creators at Queen City Bookstore’s “Artists Alley.”

Guest artist Emil Novak will be joining Rodriguez at the event, showcasing his variant cover art for “RUSTBELT #3.” Other artists, such as Paulie, Kevin Chapman, and Darius Johnson, will also be in attendance. This year’s Free Comic Book Day releases include a Hellboy crossover with Stranger Things, Ultimate Universe Spider-Man, Snoopy Beagle Scout Adventures, and more.

Don’t miss out on the chance to grab the latest releases from Erie County Comics at Queen City Bookstore and Cosmic Comics. The event promises to be a celebration of all things comic book-related, with something for every fan to enjoy.
