DC Announces Absolute Power, DC Finest Line, and Elseworlds Updates at ComicsPRO

DC Comics made some major announcements at the ComicsPRO Comic Industry Conference, revealing exciting new projects and updates for fans to look forward to.

First up is “Absolute Power: The Dawn of DC,” a new blockbuster series set to launch in July. Written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Dan Mora, this four-issue series will see Amanda Waller’s dangerous plans to eliminate all metahuman abilities come to fruition, leading to a showdown that will require the combined efforts of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and more to stop her. Fans can get a sneak peek of the series on Free Comic Book Day with a special edition comic featuring an original story and a preview of the first issue.

In addition to Absolute Power, DC also announced the launch of “DC Finest,” a new line of affordable, genre- and character-focused graphic collections set to debut in November. These collections will spotlight fan-favorite characters and storytelling genres from DC’s extensive history, offering both casual and completist fans the chance to explore full continuities and build their ultimate collection of stories.

Lastly, DC revealed the release schedule for the return of the Elseworlds imprint, with titles like “Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age,” “Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter,” and “DC vs. Vampires: World War V” set to debut in the coming months. The imprint will offer a fresh take on classic DC characters and stories, providing fans with exciting new adventures to enjoy.

Additionally, DC and Marvel announced the upcoming release of two crossover omnibuses, featuring iconic team-ups between characters from both universes. Retailers got a first look at exclusive cover art for these omnibuses, set to be released in August.
