Anthony Mackie, who plays Captain America, expresses difficulty in straying from comic book boundaries within the MCU

Anthony Mackie Talks Marvel Studios Constraints and Creative Freedom in Twisted Metal Interview

Anthony Mackie, known for his role as the Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is gearing up to take on the mantle of Captain America in his own movie, “Captain America: Brave New World.” However, in a recent interview with Radio Times, Mackie expressed the challenges of working within the constraints of the Marvel Studios universe.

Mackie discussed his experience working on the recently premiered show “Twisted Metal” on Paramount+ UK, where he had more creative freedom compared to his MCU role. He mentioned that in the Marvel universe, there are limitations on how much creativity can be brought to the table due to the established comic book content created by Stan Lee.

The actor highlighted the difference in approach between the two projects, stating that with “Twisted Metal,” they were able to build the world around the characters freely, introducing new elements and unexpected twists. In contrast, the Marvel universe requires adherence to the established comic book storylines, making it challenging to deviate from the source material.

Despite the constraints of his MCU role, Mackie seems unfazed and is looking forward to the release of “Captain America: Brave New World” in 2025. The movie, directed by Julius Onah and written by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, is set to bring a fresh take on the iconic superhero character.

With an insightful look into the challenges of balancing creative freedom with established comic book lore, Anthony Mackie’s upcoming projects are sure to captivate audiences as he navigates the world of superheroes on both the big and small screens.
