Owensboro, Kentucky Hosts Exciting Free Comic Book Day Events

Celebrate Free Comic Book Day at Big Bang Toys Comics & Games in Owensboro

Local Comic Creator to Make Appearance at Free Comic Book Day Event in Owensboro

As a kid, I cherished my collection of Captain Carrot & His Amazing Zoo Crew comic books. The campy and fun series was a favorite of mine, and I made sure to preserve every issue in plastic sleeves. So, when I heard about Free Comic Book Day happening this Saturday, May 4th, at Big Bang Toys Comics & Games in Owensboro, I was thrilled.

The event will feature a special appearance by local comic creator Charlie McFarland, known for his works The Citizen and Pistol Shrimp. Charlie, who has been writing comics since he was just 9 years old, was inspired by Captain Underpants to create his own series. Now, at 18, he has published multiple comic books and continues to pursue his passion for storytelling.

The Citizen is a comedic comic about an ordinary man living in a world of superheroes, while Pistol Shrimp is an “under-the-sea western” featuring a gun-toting shrimp as the protagonist. According to Charlie’s wife, Whitney, Pistol Shrimp may be small in size, but he is larger than life in personality.

Attendees at Big Bang Toys Comics & Games will have the opportunity to meet and chat with Charlie, as well as participate in other Free Comic Book Day activities throughout the day. The event is free to attend and promises to be a fun-filled celebration of all things comic book related.

Don’t miss out on this exciting event at Big Bang Toys Comics & Games, located at 4786 Frederica Street in Owensboro. It’s sure to be a day full of nostalgia, creativity, and maybe even a few surprises.
