Exciting Exhibits Coming to Comic-Con Museum in 2024!

The Comic-Con Museum has exciting news for fans of pop culture and comic art! During the WonderCon panel, the museum announced three upcoming exhibits that are sure to delight visitors. Scheduled to open in May and June 2024, these exhibits are all world premieres and original to the Museum.

The first exhibit, “Becoming Betty Boop,” will open in late June 2024. This exclusive exhibit will showcase the history and evolution of the iconic cartoon character Betty Boop, the first and only female animated screen star in the world in the early 1930s. Visitors can expect to see never-before-seen artifacts, artwork, animated films, and a bespoke collaborative art piece created just for the exhibit.

The second exhibit, “Border Blitz: Artistas del Cómic de Tijuana,” will open on May 9, 2024. In collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego, this exhibit will feature the art of Charles Glaubitz, Alejandra Yépiz Portillo, and Urbano Mata, highlighting the diverse stories and perspectives of these border artists. The exhibit will be presented in both English and Spanish, celebrating the cultural richness of the region.

The third exhibit, “Collaboration(s)! A Journey with John Jennings,” will also open on May 9, 2024. This exhibit explores the graphic novel and comic art collaborations of John Jennings, an Eisner Award-winning and New York Times best-selling comic artist and author. Visitors will have the opportunity to delve into the world of Afrofuturism and modern mythology through Jennings’ work.

In addition to these upcoming exhibits, the Comic-Con Museum is currently showcasing the interactive exhibit “POPnology,” which explores the connection between pop culture and real-world technology. Visitors can also enjoy the exhibition “Colleen Doran Illustrates Neil Gaiman,” featuring original art by award-winning artist Colleen Doran.

The Museum is open every day except Wednesday from 10 AM to 5 PM, with the last entry at 4 PM. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
