Singapore Comic Con 2019: A Geeky Good Time for Fans of Pop Culture

Fans of comics, toys, games, movies, and everything pop culture gathered at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore on 7-8 December 2019 for the inaugural Singapore Comic Con. The event, previously known as the Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention, was rebranded to attract a wider audience beyond hardcore fans and collectors.

With three full exhibition halls at Marina Bay Sands Singapore, the Singapore Comic Con was a sight to behold. Guests lined up to meet some of the world’s leading comic creators, including Andy Kubert, Jock, Donny Cates, and Yasmine Putri. The event also featured premium collectibles from XM Studios, designer toys from POP MART, and the new creator expert set from LEGO.

E-sports enthusiasts were treated to thrilling finals for Dota2 and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, with teams from Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia battling it out for the top spot. The unexpected mashup between Mr Kiasu and Spongebob Squarepants delighted fans, while a sneak peek of Singapore’s first creature feature Circle Line left monster movie enthusiasts eager for its release in May 2020.

Overall, the Singapore Comic Con was a celebration of all things geeky and fun, bringing together fans of pop culture in a two-day extravaganza. From autograph sessions with comic creators to exciting e-sports finals, the event had something for everyone. As the convention came to a close, attendees left with fond memories and a sense of camaraderie with fellow fans.
