ACPL Celebrates Free Comic Book Day and Star Wars Day on May 4th

The Allen County Public Library (ACPL) is gearing up for an exciting weekend of celebrations with Free Comic Book Day and Star Wars Day on Saturday, May 4. This year, the two events coincide, making for a double dose of fun for fans of comics and the iconic Star Wars franchise.

The ACPL will be hosting a variety of activities throughout the day, including free comic book giveaways at all locations while supplies last. Youth Services Manager Jacki Fulwood emphasized the importance of connecting popular characters with reading to engage young readers and foster a love of books.

In addition to the comic book giveaways, the ACPL will be hosting a Star Wars-themed Space Academy at the Main Library, where young Jedis can participate in physical activities and crafts. Registration is encouraged for this event, which is open to preschool and elementary school-age children.

For those looking for activities beyond the Star Wars theme, the Main Library will also be hosting a Free Comic Book Day Scavenger Hunt, writing and drawing workshops, art-making sessions, and a button-making program for teens. All events are free and open to the public, with some limited to specific age groups.

The ACPL has been a cornerstone of learning and discovery in northeast Indiana for over 125 years, serving over one million visitors annually. With a vast collection of over 2.7 million items, including the nation’s largest public genealogy research center and The Rolland Center for Lincoln Research, the ACPL continues to be a hub for education and exploration in the community.
