“I very much made this film with a healthy respect for the rabid fan base, but I didn’t want to presume that everyone has the same level of knowledge about these characters and this world,” Levy explained. “This movie is built for entertainment, with no obligation to come prepared with prior research.”

Despite the character’s death in 2017’s Logan, Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine. The specific explanation for his return has not been revealed, but both Reynolds and Jackman have assured fans that the events of Logan will not be undone.
