Shawn Levy, Director of Deadpool & Wolverine, assures fans that no knowledge of the MCU is necessary

Shawn Levy Assures Fans Deadpool & Wolverine Film Will Be Accessible Without MCU Knowledge

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe can breathe a sigh of relief as director Shawn Levy promises that the upcoming blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine will be accessible to all audiences, regardless of their knowledge of the MCU. In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Levy emphasized that the film is designed to be entertaining without requiring viewers to have done their homework beforehand.

“I very much made this film with a healthy respect for the rabid fan base, but I didn’t want to presume that everyone has the same level of knowledge about these characters and this world,” Levy explained. “This movie is built for entertainment, with no obligation to come prepared with prior research.”

Despite the character’s death in 2017’s Logan, Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine. The specific explanation for his return has not been revealed, but both Reynolds and Jackman have assured fans that the events of Logan will not be undone. Reynolds stated that the focus of the movie is on delivering a quality story that stays true to existing canon.

In addition to exploring Deadpool’s impact on the MCU’s history alongside Wolverine, the film will feature returning characters from the Deadpool franchise, including Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Stefan Kapičić. Newcomers to the cast include Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, and Jennifer Garner, who will reprise her role as Elektra from the 2000s Daredevil and Elektra films.

Describing the movie as a “two-hander character adventure,” Levy noted that Deadpool & Wolverine is not a direct continuation of the previous Deadpool films but rather a fresh take on the characters. With an exciting mix of returning favorites and new faces, the film is sure to be a must-see for Marvel fans and casual moviegoers alike.
