Vaca-Con 2024 Draws Record Attendance and Excitement in Solano County

Solano County was buzzing with excitement as citizens and superheroes alike gathered for the sixth annual Vaca-Con at the Ulatis Community Center. The event, which celebrates anime, comics, and pop culture, drew in an estimated 5,000 fans this year, prompting the addition of an outside area for vendors and artists to accommodate the growing crowd.

Organized by Tiffany Richie Western, a parks and recreation supervisor, Vaca-Con featured comic book vendors, artists, and special guests such as RJ Mitte from “Breaking Bad” and actor Corey Feldman. Western expressed her desire to prioritize vendor participation and bring in even bigger name celebrities for future events, with LeVar Burton being at the top of her list.

One of the highlights of the event was the presence of professional cosplayers like Roger Presa, The 916 Ghostbusters, and the 501 Legion, a fan-based organization dedicated to Star Wars cosplay. The Teren Clan of the Mandalorian Mercs also made an appearance, showcasing their impressive Mandalorian armor.

Despite reaching full capacity for vendors and artists this year, registration for next year’s convention is expected to open in the coming months. The event continued on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing attendees with a weekend full of fun and excitement.

Vaca-Con 2024 was a resounding success, bringing together fans of all ages to celebrate their love for all things geeky and nerdy. With the growing popularity of the event, it’s clear that Vaca-Con will continue to be a staple in Solano County for years to come.
